Chap Goh Meh also coincides with the Chinese Valentine's Day, so there was activity of throwing mandarin orange. Usually, unmarried ladies will write down their name and contact number on their mandarin oranges. They make wishes and then threw their mandarin oranges into the sea. Chinese people believe that wishes made on this night were more willingly granted by the heavenly powers. In the past, unmarried ladies can only meet their patners in this day.
